TWT 2 Creativity course with Yehudit Sasportas

Recently, the TWT 2 group had 2.5 intensive days of drawing with pencil exercises with Yehudit Sasportas. Yehudit has a powerful ability to read people “from the inside” based on their drawings: she gives her impressions and readings of the drawing-work based on what she feels is looking for greater expression in people’s lives. In order to devote more personal time to participants, the TWT group is split into 2 sub-groups of about 50 people each time.

From an external perspective, the process appears simple. Participants work from still life and then produce a drawing. After an initial phase, there are more instructions - for instance: “try to create a connection between yourself and the object you’re sketching“, “only use surfaces in your drawing“, “use lines and nothing else“, “draw blindly - covering what you’ve already drawn with another piece of paper“, “only draw a circle“, “draw circles according to given sizes and intensities“, “draw portraits of one another“, and even “draw with your eyes covered”.

What Yehudit reads from the drawings and with what kind of precision she points to significant current themes or growth-edges in people’s lives is frequently breathtaking. We have known each other now for a whole year and have shared so many intense situations and challenges – which Yehudit recognized in the pictures. She sees so clearly and works with us in a way that helps us understand how the drawings we are producing authentically depict part of our personality, and how the themes are so pressing and dominant in our lives. Yehudit simply says what she can read in the drawings: this expands the perspective we have into life and specifies those personal topics which require our urgent attention.
